How to Have a Family Game Night Outside

For many parts of the country, summer has arrived and the weather is ideal for spending time outside. Do you already have a family game night during the winter months? Take your game night outside this summer with fun activities the whole family will enjoy. Discount department stores and sporting goods stores are the perfect place to find outdoor games and activity sets. Here are a few thoughts on what you can do outside for fun.

• Outdoor games
• A desire to play with your children
• At least one evening set aside each week

1. Play badminton as a family. It's hilariously fun!
2. Get a good game of horseshoes going. For younger children, consider purchasing the plastic sets that they could easily handle. If you have older children, the traditional sets would work fine.
3. Soccer games are perfect for a fun family night oustide. Soccer sets are easily found at Wal-Mart or similar discount department stores. They are typically made from plastic and can easily be dismantled and stored throughout the winter.
4. Volleyball is great for both adults and children. It's okay to "talk smack" as long as it stays friendly!
5. Frisbee seems like a really simple game, but children love chasing that flying disc! It's excellent exercise for the whole family too.
6. A baseball or softball game is perfect, even for a family of four. Two on each side is just right. Bases, bats, balls and mitts are a great investment for family fun night.
