The first step in filling out a deposit slip is to turn the deposit slip on the backside and write all checks being deposited down and total them with a calculator. This amount will go on the second line of the front of the deposit slip. Now, if one has cash to deposit, that should go on the first line.

  2. Step 2

The second step in filling out a deposit slip is to take the total amount of cash and checks and subtract the amount of money you want to keep out for yourself and this total will go on the next to the last line (it will say less cash received).
