Step 1
Connect your iPhone to your mac. iTunes should automatically open, if not then open iTunes as well.

Step 2
On the left pane in iTunes, select your iphone from the Devices list

Step 3
In the main window pane, select the Info tab at the top (your default view is summary)

Step 4
Scroll Down to Calendars, the second section down.

Step 5
Check the Sync iCal Calendars box.

Step 6
You have a choice whether to sync all of your calendars or just selected ones. Just check which that you want.

on 9/30/2009 How can I sync it so the info in my iphone calendar is shared with my mac's ical? i.e. I have more info in my iphone calendar then on my mac... but dont want my phone calendar to be wiped...
(I have just got a new mac, and want to now sync my existing iphone (was synchronised with my old computer..) with my new mac...)

on 6/18/2009 by the way i do have the latest itunes and i have been on the apple help pages and it still dont sync HELP!!!

on 5/18/2009 I use iTunes 8.1.1 on my Intel MacBook. In Step 5 there is no Sync iCal Calendars box. Rather, there is a statement "Your calendars are being synced with your iPhone over the air from Microsoft Exchange" [which isn't happening!]. I don't actively use iCal; I do all my calendar work with my iPhone. But I'd like to preserve my calendar on my hard drive, and would like to sync with iCal to do this.
