Instructions

Choosing Flowers for Your Wedding Day

  1. Step 1

Set a budget for wedding flowers. It should not consume the bulk of your wedding budget itself. Set a realistic flower budget, and stick with it.

  2. Step 2

Do your research. Depending on your wedding date, some flowers may or may not be in season. Choosing an out of season flower can be costly and in some cases, the flowers may not even be available which can be a disappointment.

  3. Step 3

Talk to the florists you have available. Consider what type of florist you want to work with. Some florists will follow precise instructions perfectly, and some like to be creative in providing you with gorgeous arrangements. Interviewing florists will give you an idea of your style to see if it meshes will your style.

  4. Step 4

Decide on your bouquets. If you want a grand design, you want to make sure to communicate your desires to all involved. This may increase the price.

  5. Step 5

Consider your wedding site and what type of flowers will look best. Proper coordination is key.

  6. Step 6

Get it in writing. Whatever is decided between you and your florist, get a written copy along with all prices agreed upon. This is to protect you and to confirm the amount of money that you agreed to spend.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that simplicity is best and certainly cheaper. Greenery and fillers such as baby's breath are expensive. Use less of these items and cut your flower bill.
  • When looking through magazines, tear out pictures of flowers that you like and keep them in a file. This will make a great starting point and you will able to reference it throughout the planning.
  • Sticking with your budget may be hard to do when you are working with a florist.
