Lions are more than just big cats with manes, weighing in at around 350 pounds. They eat massive amounts of meat and can be very dangerous. Here is the best way to feed a caged lion.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cage with a boxed room attached
  • Raw meat
  • Hose to wash down the boxed room
  1. Step 1

Set up a cage or lion pen to have a box-like room with two doors, one on each end. The door that leads in to the lions cage should be able to be opened by having it pulled upwards. The other door doesn't matter. The boxed room should be heavy-duty and secure.

  2. Step 2

While the lion is in its pen keep the door to the boxed room closed. Humans can enter through the outside door.

  3. Step 3

Place the lions food on the floor of the box shaped room. Lions do not like plates or bowls and you can always hose down the room when the lion is done eating.

  4. Step 4

Exit the boxed room and close the outside door.

  5. Step 5

After you are safely outside of the room and the cage, open the door near the lion's cage. The lion will then come inside and eat its meal. When the lion finishes, it will leave the room and you can close the door and clean up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lions need to eat meat and any type of animal meat or chicken parts will do. Sometimes zookeepers give their lions horsetails to improve jaw strength.
  • Never try to feed a lion by getting in the same cage as the big cat.
