How to Hydroseed a Lawn
Hydroseeding is a method where you can plant a lawn with just the ease of a hose. When the mixture is sprayed onto the lawn, it serves as a protective barrier for the seeds in the lawn, making germination possible. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- water
- seed
- a hose
- a mixture of fertilizer, wood mulch or cellulose fiber

Mix together the water, seed, fertilizer, and either cellulose fiber or wood mulch into a tank that will be attached to the hose. Mulch is an important ingredient to include, for it protects the seeds from sunlight and the wind, as well as gives the seeds a source of nutrients.

Spray the lawn with the mixture, making sure you spray the entire area of the lawn. The best time to spray the lawn is before the grass begins to grow at the new start of the season.

Once growing occurs, you can easily touch up any patches of land that do not have visible growth.

After you finish spraying, make sure to monitor the lawn for the next two weeks. You want to make sure the mulch remains sodden. To do this lightly wet the lawn for up to three times a day during the beginning of the two weeks.

For the next two weeks, continue with Step 4, but decrease the number of times you wet the mulch.

Make sure to do research on what seeds to use. To find out more about the availability of seeds, seek your neighborhood companies that specialize in lawn service.
Not all lawns require the same about of water. Depending on what seeds you used, the amount of water you need varies.
