Instructions

      Place the log on a flat surface so that it stands vertically.

      Secure the log by pinning it with two cinder blocks to prevent the log from moving and allowing a more direct blow from the axe.

      Stand facing the log, approximately 2 to 3 feet away.

      Grip the axe with both hands, with one hand high near the blad and the other, lower, near the butt of the handle.

      Hold the axe up over your head and swing down, aiming for the center of the log. As you swing, slide the hand that's gripped higher down the handle until it meets your other hand.

      Hammer the flat, metal part of the axe, with the axe partially stuck in the log, driving it further into the wood and splitting it.
