How to Succeed in Life

1. Know your intention(s) and state your goal(s). Understand what you wish to accomplish and why the accomplishment is worth the effort, time and sacrifice necessary for success. Define how far you are willing to reach to achieve a particular goal.

2. Be realistic. Look at the venture from many perspectives and measure the risk/reward ratio for your participation. Be realistic and evaluate the potential for crisis, success or lasting chaos associated with the new venture, investment, commitment or structural change. Implement accordingly.

3. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Utilize your strengths and strengthen your weaknesses. Build on high performance skills as you strengthen areas of great weakness or instability. Use areas of proficiency to balance your general ability. If you are a great problem solver, but lack listening skills, learn to investigate the comments of others as you would a puzzle or complex problem. Actively listen to discover the who, what, when, where and why of the story. Focus your attention on how to solve the problem of poor listening.

4. Learn how to be a more effective communicator, negotiator, problem solver, and general team player. Think in terms of the greatest benefit to the greatest number of people and work to implement effective change. State the want and work to find a means to that end.

5. Be positive. Work to solve problems and find a happy solution to every crisis. Think in terms of results, not obstacles.
