Step 1
Search Craigslist (www.craigslist.com) in multiple cities. Since freelance writing often happens remotely, you can find clients anywhere in the U.S. or internationally. Search daily and apply frequently, but beware of swindlers.
-
Step 2
Consider signing up with a fee-based service. I use iFreelance (www.ifreelance.com), which charges a flat annual fee, but does not take a portion of profits. Using this service, you can post your photo, bio, resume and samples of your work. Then, you bid on writing jobs that meet your skills and interests. Bid often.
-
Step 3
Consider signing up with a commission-based service. One good option is Elance (www.elance.com). Again, you can post your resume, bio, photo and samples. Here, there is no annual fee, but if someone hires you, the commission-based service will take a percentage of your earnings. Bid often.
-
Step 4
Keep up with writing blogs and Websites that regularly post freelance writing jobs or networking opportunities. Try Angela Hoy’s Writer’s Weekly (www.writersweekly.com) or Freelance Writing.com (www.freelancewriting.com). Develop a list of Websites and check them daily.
-
Step 5
Create your own blog, promote it and then link it to your writing sites. Blogging is an easy way to market your writing. Let everyone know about your blog and put a link to your blog under your email signature. Then, make sure that your blog links to your writing website (whether it is independent or on a site like iFreelance) and let the business come to you!

on 10/12/2008 This is a high-quality article that doesn't just give the same information as all the others that want you to make money quickly online. My article http://www.ehow.com/how_4543903_use-resources-becoming-freelance-writer.html works well in conjunction, because it is about resources freelance writers have available to them online and how to properly use them.
