How to Glaze Pound Cake

Pound cake glaze is a delicious way to dress up any plain cake. You can make a pound cake glaze that will take an ordinary cake to extraordinary with just a few simple ingredients. Pound cake glaze can even be poured on a store bought pound cake! Read on for this delicious icing on the cake!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 3 tbsp. Milk
  • 3 tbsp. Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Rubber Spatula
  • 1 Small Saucepan
  1. Step 1

    Melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter in a small saucepan on the stove top.

  2. Step 2

    Remove saucepan from stove when butter is completely melted.

  3. Step 3

    Add 1 cup powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla to the saucepan containing the melted butter.

  4. Step 4

    Stir glaze in saucepan with a spatula until smooth.

  5. Step 5

    Pour hot glaze over warm pound cake.

  6. Step 6

    Serve, and let your guests know that you made the glaze yourself!

Tips & Warnings
  • You may substitute lemon or coconut extract for the vanilla.
  • Don't glaze a cold cake. Warm up a store bought one in the microwave if you aren't baking the cake yourself.
