How to to Make a Pirate Costume from Scrubs

A pirate costume is a fun and popular solution for Halloween. It is equally perfect for other costume parties. You can make a pirate costume quickly and easily using a pair of scrubs. Here are the instructions for making a pirate costume from scrubs.

Things You'll Need

• Scrubs
• White Shirt (preferably with puffy sleeves)
• Eye Patch
• Bandana
• White Felt
• Black Boots
• Pirate Hat (optional)
• Hook (optional)

Instructions

1. Obtain an existing pair of black or brown hospital scrubs. This is the basis of your costume. You can borrow these, or you can buy them inexpensively from bargain stores and thrift shops.

2. 

   Cut the top portion of your scrubs top into a Vest. Cut off the sleeves, and cut off the bottom of shirt at the waist. You will also need to cut the top down the front center. Now you have a vest. You can leave the edges raw, as this is just a costume. if you are a perfectionist, you can always turn the ends in and sew away!

3. Sketch a skull and crossbones onto white felt, and cut out this pirate art. Attach the felt to the back of the vest using iron on adhesive.

4. Put on a white shirt, and now you are ready to sport that great pirate vest over it!

5. Get black boots from the thrift store is you don’t already own a pair. Tuck the legs of your scrubs pants into your boots.

6. Tie a bandanna on your head with the knot off to the side. Add an eye patch, pirate hat and hook to make your costume complete.

• Look for items like chains, belts, and hoop earrings around your house to add to your costume.
