Instructions

  1. How to Change the Grip of a Tennis Raquet

    • 1

Purchase a new wrap (replacement grip) for your racquet at a local sporting goods store. A common color carried in stores is black, but you can find other colors online.

    • 2

Unroll the new wrap, but don't take off the tape all at once. You don't want it to get stuck to other things like your hands and get less sticky. With the tape still on, practice wrapping the handle of your racquet. Determine if the wrap will need trimmed or not.

    • 3

Take off small portions of the tape as you lay the wrap on your racquet. Follow the lines of how your original grip was placed. Wrap it tightly.

    • 4

When you get to the end of your racquet's handle, smooth the end down and trim it if necessary. Make sure the end of the wrap lays flat.

Tips & Warnings

  • Change your grip if it starts giving you blisters on your hands.

  • Keep an extra wrap on hand in your tennis bag.

  • Wrap the replacement grip tightly so it doesn't wear quickly or fall off.
