There is an almost endless sea of new technology being pumped out of cell phone companies these days. It seems almost overwhelming to try and find the right kind of cell phone among all that mess. With a little bit of searching and these few simple steps, the search for the perfect cell phone will be long behind you.

How to Choose a Mobile Handset

Step1
Assess the level of your own technological knowledge. Be honest. You know how comfortable you are around electronics. While it may seem cool to have the newest, fastest and most advanced cell phone, it’ll be absolutely useless if you have no idea how to use it. Any piece of technology will usually come with a handbook if you think you can teach yourself, but be aware that sometimes it may be like reading a different language.
Step2
Decide what you want to mostly use your cell phone for. A few years ago this step would have sounded ridiculous, but cell phones have quickly advanced to doing much more than talking. Texting, Internet access, GPS and mp3 playing capabilities are just some of the options to consider.
Step3
Set your price range. There are lots of great phones out there to be had for little or no money depending on which phone service plan you sign up for. If you already have a plan and are just looking for a newer phone, the prices may get a little more expensive.
Step4
Look around at your cell phone service provider’s local store. This is assuming that you have one. As stated in step 3, the phone that you buy can come relatively cheap or free depending on the length and type of service plan you purchase. The store will also have a display area where you can test the phone and hold it in your hand to see if it’s comfortable.
Step5
Shop online. This is recommended for those who know what they want or those who just want to see what’s out there. It’s always recommended that you do some background research online on almost anything you buy before buying it. It will ensure you don’t get a bad deal or a bad phone.
