Cleaning and Disinfecting Wooden Cooking Utensils

  1. Step 1

Fill your sink with warm water and dish soap. A good ratio is one tablespoon for each gallon of warm water.

  2. Step 2

Soak the utensils for at least 10 minutes if they are really dirty. Otherwise, clean the utensils with a soapy sponge.

  3. Step 3

Rinse your utensils with warm water to remove all the soapy residue.

  4. Step 4

Fill the sink with warm water and add 1/4 cup of bleach for each gallon of water. Allow the utensils to soak for at least five minutes to kill all the bacteria. Do not rise the bleach solution from the utensils.

  5. Step 5

After every other sanitation, rub a little olive oil into the wood to prevent drying and splintering.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you notice a foul odor that is not removed after cleaning and sanitizing, throw the utensil away.
