Many people change the default web browser on their Macintosh. Here's how to change the default web browser on OS X.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mac OS X
  • Browser you wish to use
  1. Step 1

    Open Safari from "Applications" or use the Dashboard icon.

  2. Step 2

    Click on "Safari" in the menu bar.

  3. Step 3

    Now click on "Preferences..."

  4. Step 4

    Click on the "General" tab if it is not already selected.

  5. Step 5

    Choose a different browser from the Default Web Browser pop-up menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most web browsers will check at startup to see if they are the default browser. The browser will give you the option to make it the default browser.
