How to Get a Free Grant

(Editor: You may want to change the category for this article, I could not find a good fit) If you do a search for free grants on the internet, you will find no shortage of website that offer to help you secure free grants. Even those sites that tells you all of the other sites are frauds, will offer to send you a free report for a fee. It’s enough to convince you that there is no chance at all for you to secure a grant. Here are the steps on how to get a free grant.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a legitimate grant finding website. There are thousands of grant-finding websites on line, but none are as legitimate as Grants.gov. On the Grants.gov website, you will find the most up to date grants, with a specific link to the newest opportunities. Grants.gov is a government website and it is absolutely free to use.

    • 2

Register to use the grants.gov website. Before you can use the Grants.gov website to apply for grants, you must be a registered user. If you are looking for both individual and organization grants, you will have to register for each separately.

    • 3

Search the Grants.gov website for grants that fit your needs. You can do a basic search on the website using keywords, or if you know the funding opportunity number (FDN) or Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number you can search using those numbers. You can also browse the website using category, or by the agency offering the grants.

    • 4

Download the grant application package. To apply for a grant, you need to first download a grant application package so you can complete it offline and work in it with others. The application uses Adobe Reader and PureEdge Viewer to download the program.

    • 5

Complete the grant application package filling out all of the required fields that the grantor asks for. Grants.gov has online assistance through the use of “frequently asked questions” and narrated tutorials. If you have access to someone with experience in grant writing you should solicit their help.

    • 6

Submit the application package through the grants.gov website using the "PureEdge finder" tool that you needed to download the grant package. After submission, you will receive a tracking number that will allow you to track the status of our grant.
