How to Make Gel Glue

The next time you have a need for glue, try making your own homemade gel glue. Homemade gel glue is easy to make and provides effective holding power. It also allows you to eliminate the use of harsh or harmful chemicals without having a negative affect on the finished product. There is a simple do-it-yourself gel glue method. By the following the step-by-step process you will have your own batch of gel glue in no time.

Things You'll Need:

  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • 3 Tbsp. Skim Milk
  • Small Sauce Pan
  • 6 To 7 Drops Clove Oil
  • 3 Tbsp. Cold Water
  • 6 Oz. Unflavored Gelatin
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Clean Metal Spoon

Pour 6 oz. unflavored gelatin into a small mixing bowl.

Add 3 tbsp. cold water to the gelatin.

Cover the bowl with aluminum foil and let it sit for 60 minutes.

Pour 3 tbsp. skim milk into a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Remove the saucepan from heat and set it aside for two to three minutes.

Remove the aluminum foil from the mixing bowl and pour the skim milk into the gelatin mixture.

Add six to seven drops of clove oil to the ingredients in the bowl.

Use a clean metal spoon to mix the ingredients together.

Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before using.

Cover with aluminum foil and store the mixture at room temperature to prevent the gel from hardening.

Tip

If skim milk is unavailable, 1 percent or 2 percent milk can be used as a substitute.

Warnings:

  • This mixture loses its effectiveness rather quickly and should be discarded after 24 hours.
