How to Advertise on a Blog

Internet advertising has its own set of rules. In addition to the traditional rules of advertising, those wanting online exposure need to be familiar with terms like "repeat visitors" and "pay per click costs." Blogging has allowed anyone with a voice to state their feelings online. It has also provided millions of additional pages for goods and services to be advertised. Here’s how to advertise on a blog.

  1. Step 1

    Contact bloggers directly. Many bloggers are online entrepreneurs with definitive goals for their site. Some may even have rate sheets available for would be advertisers looking for exposure. This should be as simple as sending an email to the listed contact on the site.

  2. Step 2

    Join sites like Blogvertise. For advertisers, this is a very attractive arrangement. The site comes ready with thousands of bloggers who are ready to publish a good or service on their respective sites. Some blogs receive millions of hits per day, so this could mean significant exposure overnight for any advertiser.

  3. Step 3

    Post links on blog response board. Many blogs allow visitors to post comments about the content of the blog. The advertiser’s product or service needs to be pertinent to the content of the blog. Otherwise the advertiser will be perceived as spam. Since a blog exist on just about any and every topic, this should not be an issue.

  4. Step 4

    Start a blog. Self promotion is the best way to get an idea out in the way that it should be delivered. Joining sites like blogger.com allows a potential blogger to set up a blog with very little effort.
