If you have a large nose, you can reduce its prominence through the use of makeup. By shading it, you can effectively hide its large size; it will then appear more in tune with the rest of your facial features.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Liquid foundation
  • Powder
  • Blending brush
  • Facial sponge
  1. Step 1

Choose a liquid foundation and powder in shades slightly darker than your skin tone. Find a liquid foundation and powder in shades slightly lighter than your skin tone. The dark and light shades are necessary for contouring.

  2. Step 2

Powder the nose in a natural way to set the base for contouring. Use the blending brush and facial sponge for the most natural look.

  3. Step 3

To hide the appearance of a wide nose, apply the lighter foundation and powder down the center of the nose. Blend into the surrounding areas for a natural look.

  4. Step 4

If you have a long nose, use the foundation and powder that is slightly lighter than your natural skin tone, and apply over and under the tip of the nose.

  5. Step 5

Draw attention away from a large nose with contouring along your cheekbones and jawline. Use the darker shade of foundation and powder, and blend it under the cheekbones and jawline.

  6. Step 6

Apply blush to the cheeks and color to the lips to draw attention away from your nose.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cleanse and moisturize your face before applying any makeup. A clean facial base makes for better results.
  • Choose a hairstyle that draws attention away from a large nose. "Pixie" and very short hairstyles tend to draw attention to a prominent nose, as does limp hair. Aim for a fuller hairstyle to draw attention away from the nose.
  • In addition to contouring techniques, you can also play up other facial features to draw the focus away from your nose. If you have beautiful eyes, play them up with more dramatic makeup. If you love your smile, highlight it with some lip color.
  • You can save money by choosing a powder compact with three shades of color -- one that matches your skin tone, one that is slightly lighter and one that is slightly darker. Many companies offer compacts with multiple shades.
  • For sensitive skin, try mineral makeup. As it's wholly natural, it can be more gentle on the skin.
  • Avoid applying too much makeup to the nose. The end result should look natural.
  • Keep your skin healthy by regularly replacing old makeup. Bacteria can form on old cosmetics, which can lead to skin breakouts and facial infections.
