Hair glitter comes in two forms: spray-on and streak-in. The former is sprayed over hair much like hairspray and creates a sparkly effect on the entire hairstyle. Streak-in hair glitter give you the option of a much more precise application and can function as temporary highlights and even change the color of light colored hair. In this article, we will discuss how to apply this type of hair glitter.

    How to Apply Hair Glitter

  1. Step 1

Brush your hair thoroughly. Hair must be clean and tangle-free for this type of glitter to show to its best advantage.

  2. Step 2

Pull forward a small section of hair. This section should be from your top layer of hair. It should be no wider than your pinkie finger.

  3. Step 3
The applicator wand will comb through a small section of hair, leaving a colorful, shiny highlight behind.

Stroke the glitter wand-applicator down the length of the hair section. Begin at the top and move in a smooth motion toward the tips of the hair. You will have more glitter at the top near the roots, where it will show the same way that highlights do. If you wish, you can repeat this process several times to make the hair sparkle even more, but do not overdo this step or you will end up with a glitter spike in your hair instead of a flowing highlight.

  4. Step 4

Select another section of hair from the opposite side of your head. Repeat the previous step on this new section. You can do this for as many pieces of hair as you wish.

  5. Step 5

Blow dry your hair for 60 seconds on low heat and power. This will set the glitter into your hair and cause your hair to move naturally with the glitter in it. Use the lowest settings to avoid tangling because brushing hair again will cause the glitter to smear or fall out of your hair.
