Hair extensions are generally used to give hair more volume and length. However, you can also use them to create fun, temporary highlights that glow under a black light or in the dark. Wearing this type of hair extension is a much simpler proposition than getting a full head of hair extensions and you can put them on yourself quickly and easily. Read on to learn how to wear blacklight hair extensions.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black light hair extensions, one or more colors
  • Hair brush
  • Hair dryer
  • Curling iron
  • Hair spray
  1. Step 1

Blow dry your hair completely. This will give you added volume and make the hair extensions' clips hold more firmly. Flip your hair over the top of your head and dry it from the bottom layers up instead of from the top down.

  2. Step 2

Brush your hair thoroughly. Hair extensions blend in better with natural hair when it is clean and tangle-free.

  3. Step 3

Decide where to place the hair extensions. Popular places are framing the face, down one side of the head or at the nape of the neck so that when the black lights catch the extension it will be slightly more subtle and surprising.

  4. Step 4

Clip the hair extensions into place. Make sure that you fasten the extensions near the roots of lower layers of hair. This way the clips will be covered by your hair and the extensions will fall naturally in line with the rest of your locks.

  5. Step 5

Wrap small sections of your hair and the extensions around the curling iron to make spiral curls. These can be accents rather than necessitating that your spiral curl all the hair on your head.

  6. Step 6

Spray the top of your head with hair spray. This will help hold the extensions in place. If you are wearing your hair down, just focus on the very top near your part. If your hair is up, then you can spray the entire hairstyle if you wish.
