A whale watch cruise is always a wonderful day out on the ocean. Even if you aren't lucky enough to see a whale yet you will usually see a lot of dolphins. I love being far out at sea. The day out on the ocean is always a memory to treasure.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunscreen
  • Binoculars
  • Water
  • Funds to pay for the cruise
  • Camera
  1. Step 1

Spend a day out on the ocean in Cape May, New Jersey. The Whale Watch and Dolphin Watch cruises are truly enjoyable. The ship captain gives information about the history of the town as the ship is heading out to see and bird watching opportunities are plentiful too.

  2. Step 2

Reserve tickets early because sometimes the cruises sell out. If you want to do this activity on a holiday weekend be sure to make reservations well in advance.

  3. Step 3

Arrive early for the cruise to obtain a seat in your desired location. I like to sit upstairs outside so I have the best view. It is relaxing to sit and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor as passengers are entering the cruise.

  4. Step 4

Bring supplies such as water, binoculars, lunch, a windbreaker, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, money for tickets and snacks on board.

  5. Step 5

Wear comfortable sneakers or boat shoes and be prepared to perhaps get a tiny bit wet as the waves hit the boat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Prepare for an outdoor adventure. A day out on the sea is exhilarating.
  • Don't forget the sunscreen! The glare off the ocean makes for a rapid sunburn without the use of sunscreen.
  • Bring a windbreaker or sweatshirt. The ocean breezes are sometimes chilly and there is a bit of mist in the air too.
  • Bring some water.
  • Bring binoculars for bird watching as the cruise is heading out to sea.
