Glitter is a great way to up your glamour quotient quickly and easily while making yourself feel like a rock star. However, if you prefer a slightly more subtle approach, you may decide to wear a small amount of glitter to accent your regular makeup. Many women wear glitter eye shadow on a daily basis because they enjoy the look and can wear it anywhere from the shops to the office to dinner on the town. In this article, you'll learn how to wear glitter eye shadow.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Translucent creme eyeshadow
  • Powdered glitter eyeshadow
  • Creme eyeshadow in a complimentary shade
  • Mascara
  • Black or brown liquid eyeliner (optional)
  1. Step 1

Apply the translucent creme eye shadow. Cover the entire eyelid and extend up to the eyebrow. Give the makeup time to set up--about 60 seconds--before moving on to the next step. Creme eye shadows hold glitter in place and prevent it from "traveling" over your face and body.

  2. Step 2

Apply colored creme shadow. Cover just the eyelid area. You will need to keep your eyes half closed while you wait for this layer to dry or you may get lines of color above your eye.

  3. Step 3

Brush on the glitter eye shadow. If it has large glitter grains, then apply it to the lower half of the eye lid in a single smooth motion and avoid the inner corner of the eye. If the grains are very small then you may wish to carefully apply it around the inner eye corner, but only do this if the eyeshadow is a "metallic" rather than having large pieces of glitter in it. Otherwise you will get glitter in your eye.

  4. Step 4

Line your eyes. Use thin lines to outline your eyes if you wish to do so. Do not use heavy liner or people will focus on your eye makeup instead of on your eyes. For most venues, the glitter will be plenty without the eyeliner.

  5. Step 5

Finish off with mascara. Bright eye makeup can actually make your eyes look smaller if you do not emphasize your lashes, so give yourself a thick coat of mascara to keep your eyes looking large and luminous.
