Instructions

  1. Making Your Whipped Body Butter

    • 1

Using a microwave, melt your shea butter in short bursts until it is slightly soft. You are looking for a consistency similar to regular butter that is at room temperature. Do not melt it all the way to a liquid oil, or it may become grainy. If you melt it too much, you can always put it in the freezer until it firms up.

    • 2

Start whipping your softened shea butter with an electric beater or whisk on a low setting.

    • 3

Beat the shea butter, and slowly add in your soft oil.

    • 4

Add your corn starch and fragrance oil. Corn starch will help absorb some of the greasy feeling. Your whipped body butter may still feel greasy, but it will eventually soak into your skin, leaving it soft and moisturized. Add your fragrance to suit your preference. Usually a teaspoon or two should be enough.

    • 5

Whip your body butter until you have a consistency that you like. Spoon into a small sterile container with a lid. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • Shea butter can be substituted with mango butter or any other solid butter, or try a combination.

  • Cocoa butter by itself may be too brittle for your body butter, but it can be used in combination with other softer butters.

  • Try not too incorporate too much air while mixing. This may cause your body butter to "fall".

  • If you use your finished body butter on your feet, your feet will be slick until it soaks in. Use caution while walking, or cover your feet with cotton socks.
