How to Wrap Hair
Wrapping your hair is a great way to create a style under the blow dryer or preserve a style at night. Usually, both work in conjunction with each other, but even if your hair hasn’t been styled in a wrap, you can still wrap it at night to keep it manageable and better able to lie in the direction you want when it’s time to style it in the morning. Does this Spark an idea?

How to Wrap Hair to Create a Style
-
1
Shampoo, condition and rinse your hair as you normally would, then apply a wrapping solution available at hair care stores to the hair.
-
2
Brush the wrapping solution through the hair from root to tip, ensuring that all strands have been covered. Your hair should be dripping wet, so begin with a towel wrapped around your shoulders.
-
-
3
Hold your head down and part the hair at the very center of your head. Now brush the hair down on all sides. Brush the front of your hair forward over your face, the sides down over your ears and the back down over your neck.
-
4
Part your hair the way you wear it. If you wear your hair parted on the side, make the part there with a comb. If you wear it parted in the center, make your part there.
-
5
From the part, begin brushing your hair around the head in one direction, in a circular motion. This will take some time and you may have to go over the same section of hair several times before you achieve a smooth, beehive-like look. That’s what you’re going for.
-
6
Now cover your hair with a very thin and sheer scarf, tied snugly at the nape of your neck to hold the style in place.
-
7
Sit under a hot hair dryer, or use a hand-held dryer until the hair is completely dry. It should feel hard to the touch, as this is the way the wrapping solution dries.
-
8
Use a brush to gently brush your hair in the direction of the wrap, once dry, slowly loosing the hair from its hard form.
-
9
Use a flat iron to smooth out the hair’s texture if you desire, but the wrapping solution and heat from the dryer will have set the hair in the wrap style. It should gently and loosely fall toward the face on one side and behind the ear on the other with a beautiful swing, thanks to the circular wrap.
How to Wrap Hair to Preserve a Style
-
10
Hold your head down and part the hair in the middle of the head. Brush downward in all directions, the same way you would to wrap your hair to create a style. (Your hair should be dry, not wet as above.)
-
11
Part your hair the way you will wear it, on the side or in the middle.
-
12
Begin wrapping your hair form the part and around your head in one direction, smoothing it with your hands as you go until you end up with a beehive-like formation.
-
13
Secure the wrap with a few bobby pins if necessary.
-
14
Cover the wrap with a scarf, tied snugly at the nape of your neck to hold the hair in place while you sleep.
-
15
Uncover the hair and brush it gently in the morning, in the direction of the wrap as it gently falls loose. Beautiful!
