Coming home to a flooded room is something no one wants to experience. Once you get the water cleaned up and the room dried out, you still are not finished. You need to get rid of all the moisture in the room in order to ward off mold and other bacteria so that the air is healthy to breathe. Open any and all doors and windows in and nearby the room that has been flooded. Allow the air to circulate as long as necessary.

Open closet and cabinet doors and any drawers. Moisture can hide in these areas and mold and bacteria can grow.

Check vents and air ducts for water or dirt. Clean them if necessary and make sure they dry completely.

Turn on the air conditioner in the room, if there is one installed. Set up several fans throughout the room and leave them running.

Set up a dehumidifier in the room and allow it to run. This will take moisture right out of the air and the mold and bacteria with it, immediately improving the air quality.
