Things You'll Need
- Price tags
- Money box
- Dollar bills and quarters for change
- Bags to pack purchases in
Arrive at the flea market well before starting time to set up your table. The opening hour is often very busy; you should have items marked and ready to go before the flea market officially opens. Do not let other dealers who visit your table lowball you with offers well below the prices you marked on items. Start to bargain as the day goes on but do not discount heavily at the start of the day.
Organize your table by first covering it with a table cloth or a sheet. Then put the items you think will sell quickly at the front of the table. You may wish to use squares of felt under certain items to make them stand out.
Put a price tag on every item. Customers do not like to have to ask the cost of an item. Price items a bit higher than the actual amount you want to allow room to allow slight discounts the customer asks for.
Shop garage sales to find items to resell at flea markets. Items that sell well include music CDs, clothing, Lenox, antiques, books (novels, biographies, anything related to music or movies), plants, school supplies, kitchen items. Go through your home and find items that you never use. Sell them at the flea market.
