Step 1
Open your internet browser. Go to PimpMyIcon.com . The quickest way to get to the page you need is by clicking "Home" below.

Decide what kind of animated icon you want. You can either customize an animated text or image icon, a flashing text icon, or a twinkling overlay icon.

Click on the text of which icon you prefer to make. This will take you to another page where you can customize your icon.

Click on "Custom animated text and images icon" if you just want to use your own pictures and text to make a normal animated icon. This will take you to a page with four steps. The first step will give you an idea of what your icon will look like. Step 2 allows you to upload a photo if you wish. Step three will allow you to add text (over the picture if you uploaded a picture). Step four will allow you to finalize the frame. Click on the next frame when you're done editing the first. Continue to do this until you like your icon. Finally, click on "Finalize Icon" in step one and download the icon.

Step 5
Click on "Flashing text icon" if you want to just have animated text. Type in your message and customize your icon by using the dropdown menus. Click on "Preview", then "Finalize Icon", finally download your icon.

Click on "Twinkling overlay icon" if you want twinkling objects over a picture of yours. Select your twinkling design in step 1. Choose your background in step 2. Add and customize your text in step 3, and finally click "Preview Icon". Click "Finalize Icon" and download your icon.

Open up your AIM and enjoy.
