Ayurveda: The Wisdom of Healthy Living

  1. Step 1

Consult an Ayurveda expert who can help to establish a rhythm that meets your unique characteristics and needs.

  2. Step 2

Live in accord with your natural rhythm and the rhythm of reality. Begin with what you eat. Ayurveda eating emphasizes fresh, seasonal, organic fruits and vegetables. Three divisions of foods are Sattavic, Rajasic and Tamasic, which correspond to the body's Sattva (clarity), Rajas (energy) and Tamas (inertia). Tamas is to be avoided.Develop a daily routine. Allow Ayurveda to integrate into your life's affairs. Ayurveda provides suggestions for waking, cleansing, eating and prayer.

  3. Step 3

Make a schedule for your days and nights and stick to it. Your schedule will help to create balance among the three doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Details even address which side to sleep on from one night to another.

  4. Step 4

Breathe, move, contemplate. Breath (pranayama), physical exercise and meditation are essential Ayurveda activities for healthy living.

  5. Step 5

Practice the ancient wisdom of Yoga. There are many schools of Yoga. Research and select a school that resonates with you. Yoga schools include Anusara, Integral, and Bikram.
