      Charge the Kindle e-book by plugging the power adapter into an electronic outlet. The adapter jack is located at the bottom of the device.

      Turn on the power switch and the wireless switch, both located on the back of the Kindle.

      With the select wheel, move the cursor (a silver rectangle located on the right side) to "menu," and press it to select the Kindle storefront.

      At the Kindle storefront, browse the selections -- from books to blogs to new books to bestsellers and more. Just move the cursor to your selected item and click through until you get to the "buy" button. You will need an Amazon account to make a wireless purchase.
