Keeping your registry clean is an easy task that should be done once a month at the minimum. It is easy to incorporate into your weekly cleaning routine or daily pick ups. A clean register will not only enhance the overall look of your house but it will enhance the air quality of your home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Vacuum with hose attachment
  • Dust cloth
  • Simple spray solution of vinegar and water
Step1
Take out the hose attachment on your vacuum and suck up any dust bunnies that are clearly visible on the register.
Step2
Remove your register if you are able to; most registers are easily removed from the air duct in which they are sitting. Flip the register with the side that you just vacuumed now on the floor. Vacuum the underside of your register.
Step3
Do a quick vacuum of the air duct, collecting any dust bunnies and random scraps that may be in the air duct.
Step4
Replace the register back to it's original position. Do another quick vacuum to make sure that you have gotten up all the dust and dirt that may have been kicked up during the removal and replacement of the register.
Step5
Spritz register with your cleaning spray and wipe with your dusting cloth. Repeat this entire process at least once a month.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make cleaning your register one of the final steps in cleaning your room. It is best to do it after you have done your dusting.
  • Some registers are not meant to be removed from the floor. Please do not try to force the register out of the floor.
