How to Make Mildew Cleaner

Mildew is a mold almost all of us have to deal with at one time or another. Mildew removers from the store tend to be extremely toxic, usually you have to air out the room for several hours, and exposure to the fumes is a health hazard. You can make a mildew remover from products you probably already have in your house. The following article will teach you how to make your own mildew cleaner.

Things You'll Need

• Plastic spray bottle
• 2 Cups of hot water
• 3 tbsp. White vinegar
• 1 tsp. Borax

Instructions

Making homemade mildew spray

1. Heat water and pour into a plastic spray bottle. This is the base of the spray, so add it first.

2. Pour white vinegar into the spray bottle. Use a funnel if you need to--so you don't spill.

3. Add borax to the spray bottle mixture. Again, use the funnel so you don't spill, but do make sure it is dry beforehand.

4. Screw the sprayer lid on tight, and shake the bottle a few times in order to combine the ingredients well.

5. Spray on surfaces to be cleaned. Let this mildew cleaner soak for several minutes, and if desired, scrub the area with a brush and rinse.

Tips & Warnings

• Use hot water so the mixture combines well--but don't boil it

• Always keep the area ventilated when using cleaning products
