Carpet cleaning is one of the many areas of home cleaning that is usually thought about carefully. There are plenty of carpet cleaning techniques and machines that one can buy, but what's the difference? There are a few ways in which one can compare carpet cleaning machines, and here are some suggestions to use if you are faced with doing just that!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what type of carpet cleaning machine that you want to buy. For this example we'll use carpet steam-cleaning machines, but their are also vacuum cleaners, hard floor cleaners, and portable cleaners as well.

  2. Step 2

Make a list of the carpet cleaning machines you want to compare.

  3. Step 3

First, read customer reviews of the products you are comparing. Customer reviews can often be found on retailers' websites and sometimes on a manufacturer's website as well.

  4. Step 4

From the list you have made, compare the "unique" features of each carpet cleaning machine. These features are usually listed on product labels, product boxes, as well as retailer's and manufacturer's websites. For example, maybe one carpet steam-cleaning machine contains a powerful dirt-removal and lifter system, while another may have extra brushes for cleaning your carpet.

  5. Step 5

If intent on purchasing a carpet cleaner, narrow down the list of the carpet cleaning machines to one or two machines by evaluating the price of each machine, looking at how many unique features each machine has as discussed in Step 4, and looking at more customer reviews of the products.

  6. Step 6

Decide on a carpet cleaning machine by making the selection based on your needs, wants, comparisons, and price.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't just buy any carpet cleaning machine you may find. In some cases a "name-brand" may be better, but there are exceptions as well.
