How to Turn On Canon XH A1 XLR Inputs

The Canon XH A1 video camera enables you to have more control over the sounds being recorded by using the microphone (MIC) terminal for adding an external (XLR) microphone. Use the following steps to turn on the XLR Inputs.

  1. Step 1

    Open the menu.

  2. Step 2

    Select audio setup

  3. Step 3

    Select XLR input, set it to On-XLR, and close the menu. The XLR Input is now turned on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Note that it’s important to use only commercially available condenser microphones that have an independent power supply. Canon recommends they have a 3.5 millimeter plug, 600 ohms of input impedance and -64dBV (automatic audio level setting), and the microphone holder be 25 millimeters or less. The cable should be no longer than 3 meters (9 feet).
