Things You'll Need:
- House Plants
- Gardening Supplies
- Containers
- Gift Card
- Ribbon
-
Step 1
Watcha Got? ~ Take inventory of the plants already in your home. Some are easier to clone or divide than others. For instance, Ivy and Spider Plants require only water and scissors to get started. Other plants require dividing root structures and special conditions. You can find information about your house plants and their propagation online.
-
Step 2
Design ~ Be creative! Whatever you have, how will it look best as a gift? Should you give a set of plants or start growing early to give one beautiful bushy plant. Decide what you want your gift to look like. What materials should you be collecting? Baskets? Tea cups?
-
Step 3
Schedule ~ Determine how long each plant will take to grow. Schedule growth to allow for enough time before giving as a gift.
-
Step 4
Multiply ~ Multiplying methods will vary depending on which plants you wish to give. Check for recommended methods for each plant and follow instructions.
-
Step 5
Arrange ~ When your multiples have reached maturity, transplant into desired gift container. Attach a gift card and ribbon. Be sure your plant’s best side is showing.
