From Quick Guide: Strep Throat Treatment Guide
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Drink and gargle raspberry tea. Raspberry is an excellent natural supplement especially when trying to get rid of a sore throat. To enjoy this tea, you first need to chop two teaspoons of raspberry leaves and add one cup of water. Next, you would heat the leaves and the water for 10 minutes. After you are done making the tea, you will need to strain it and allow it to cool. This tea can either be used as a gargle or a fever calming drink. It is recommended that you don't drink any liquid you have used to gargle with. If you need extra to gargle and to drink, double the recipe.

  2. Step 2

Gargle with warm salt water. This remedy is a classic remedy for alleviating sore throat pains. To prepare, all you need to do combine 1/2 teaspoon of salt with one cup of water (warm to hot) and gargle every 4-6 hours (repeating the recipe everytime you gargle. Gargling with salt water not only helps with your sore throat, but it also helps break down the phlegm caused by the common cold.

  3. Step 3

Drink hot liquids. Drinking hot liquids can alleviate many cold symptoms. Hot liquids such as water, coffee tea, lemonade can coat the throat and relieve pains with an effect similar to that of a hot back. The best hot liquid to try, however, is lemon and honey. This cocktail offers almost immediate relief to sore throat symptoms and chest congestion. All you need is a half lemon and about one teaspoon of honey, add them both to one cup of water, and repeat this recipe every 4-6 hours or as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • These remedies are typically for mild sore throats. If you have severe pain in your throat this could be evident of streptococcus bacteria in your throat (commonly referred to at strep throat). If you have strep throat you need to see a doctor immediately because it can lead to Scarlet fever and eventually death if left untreated.
