There are other ways to use baking soda than just for baking. So I figured I would help out and post some of the ways I've come across or concoted myself.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Baking soda
  • Each tip will explain everything you need. Mostly it is just Baking soda though.
Step1
By adding a pinch of baking soda to your freshly brewed iced-tea, you will prevent the cloudiness that usually occurs with the freshly brewed tea.

Got a stinky pet that you don't have the spare time to bathe right now? Sprinkle some baking soda on your pets' coat and simply comb through. The baking soda will remove the odors, make your pets' coat shine and trap any oils in the coat.

Are your dogs chew toys getting a little grimy? Simply soak in 4 tablespoons baking soda to one quart warm water. This will remove the grime and rid the toy of any smells. (This is only good for the non-fabric toys)

Fabric dog toys can be sprinkled with baking soda, let sit for 10-15 minutes and then shake the excess soda off.

Dentures and mouth guards can be soaked in 2 teaspoons baking soda to 8 oz warm water to keep them feeling clean. (Be sure to rinse thoroughly)

Make a paste of 3 parts baking soda to one part water for an inexpensive skin exfoliate. Apply with fingertips or cloth in a gentle circular motion and rinse. Can be repeated daily.

Mixing a small amount of baking soda into your shampoo will cease product build-up.

Mixing a small amount of baking soda into your conditioner will assist in obtaining extra healthy hair and avoiding split-ends.

Bee sting? Chicken pox? Hives? Remove that nasty sting and itch by making a paste of baking soda and rubbing onto the affected area. For chicken pox, add baking soda to your bath and soak.

Acid indigestion? Heartburn? Drink a glass of 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to 1/2 glass warm water. Or use as a mouth rinse to rid canker sore pain.

Run baking soda and water through your coffee maker to freshen and clean.

Scrub your wooden cutting board with baking soda and salt to eliminate harsh smells. Using this mix, you will cut the grease and will not damage or dry out the wood.

To remove tea or punch stains from china and plastic, sprinkle a dampened sponge with baking soda and rub onto the stain.

Spilled battery acid is no longer a problem after you drop a handful of baking soda onto the spill. This neutralizes the acid until it can safely be cleaned up.

Sprinkle baking soda onto a wet cloth, and use to polish the scuffs out of your car bumper.

Use the same technique to polish the chrome on your bike.

A handful of baking soda can put out small electrical, grease, wood and fuel fires. Handy tip when cooking on the grill or having a bonfire!
Step2
Clean your grill with a baking soda paste to avoid those nasty chemicals.

Rub baking soda directly on clothing with baby spit up to remove the odor and prevent staining.

Soak sweaty headbands and hats or smoky clothing in baking soda and water before washing to remove odor.

Stick a small sack filled with baking soda into the toe of your shoes every night to remove odor.

Clean the inside of your microwave by mixing baking soda and water into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 3-5 minutes, let sit in the microwave for at least 3 minutes longer and let the steam loosen the grime. Simply wipe clean when done.

Simple non-toxic modeling clay can be made by mixing 1 1/4 cups water, 2 cups baking soda and 1 cup water in a bowl. Add a dash of food coloring for different colors.

Make a thin paste of baking soda and water to remove crayon from the walls.
