Cala Lilies are beautiful perennial plants that can add an element of purity and innocence to a flower garden. With their stunning blooms, it is hard to imagine tossing away a Cala Lily bloom, especially if they are in a wedding bouquet. This article will explain how to dry Calla Lilies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Calla Lilies
  • Silica gel
  • Cardboard box

    How To Dry Cala Lilies

  1. Step 1

Open up the cardboard box and put an even layer of Silica gel on the bottom. You can purchase silica gel in most craft stores. Just ask for the stuff that comes in a flower bouquet that says "do not eat".

  2. Step 2

Carefully lay your Calla lilies on top of the silica gel layer. Make sure none of the blooms are bent along the edges of the cardboard box.

  3. Step 3

Add another layer of the silica gel on top of the Calla lillies. Add enough to cover the entire plant and then close the cover.

  4. Step 4

Put the box in a dark room for at least three days. After that, the colors of your Calla lily blooms should be well preserved!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also try drying them by hanging the Calla lillies upside down in a dark room but you have a greater chance of losing bloom color
