Blankets are great personalized gifts for birthdays, graduations and other holidays. Everyone loves something fun and sunggly to cuddle up with and keep warm with. Here's how to make a no tie blanket.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut your material into two equal two yard pieces. Lay the fabric on a flat surface, one piece directly on top of another. Cut the edges so they are perfectly even.

  2. Step 2

Measure five inches in on a corner. Cut out a 5 x 5 square. Repeat with all corners so your blanket has four missing corners.

  3. Step 3

Pin the fabric edges with clothespin so they stay in place when you pick it up. Set up a sewing machine and thread in the desired thread color that will coordinate with the fleece fabric.

  4. Step 4

Measure five inches in from the edge. Sew a straight line across the edge five inches in. Sew another straight line directly below the first line. Repeat on all sides.

  5. Step 5

Lay the fabric out on a flat surface. Remove the clothespins. With the ruler measure four inches deep from the edge. Cut strips about 1 1/2 inches wide, all four inches deep. Continue all the way around the blanket. You should be left with a fringe like appearance without the hassle of tying. That's it! You just made a blanket!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try using two different fabrics, one for the front and one for the back. A solid and print typically coordinate well.
  • Don't cut your strips too deep because they can tear into the sewn thread lines and ruin the blanket
