Would you like to cut uniform apple slices without using a mandoline? Then look no further than a peeler. A peeler can give you wafer-thin slices without all the work. Best of all, this technique is extremely easy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Apple
  • Peeler
  • Knife
  • Lemon juice
  1. Step 1

Peel the apple. Simply peel the apple the same way you normally would, making sure to get every piece of skin.

  2. Step 2

Cut the apple into quarters, using a knife. This will make it easier to handle the apple while you slice it.

  3. Step 3

Remove the core. Cut into each quarter at an angle in order to remove the core.

  4. Step 4

Pull the peeler along the cut edge. Hold each quarter of the apple so a cut edge is exposed. Pull the peeler along this cut edge, while applying medium pressure. This will ensure that you have wafer-thin slices.

  5. Step 5

Place slices in lemon juice–spiked water. As you slice the apple, place the pieces into a mixture of lemon juice and water. This will prevent your slices from turning brown. (You can also slice the apples straight over a bowl of lemon water.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply the same amount of pressure each time so that you get uniform slices.
  • Don't let pieces of skin clog up the peeler when you're cutting slices. Make sure you get it all removed when you peel the apple.
