Wreaths are beautiful all year round. Grapevine wreaths are my personal favorite. They are homey and welcoming. Here is an easy way to make a beautiful floral wreath. Believe me; if I can do it, anyone can!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Grapevine wreath purchased at any craft store (can be any shape. but I prefer circular)
  • 2 to 3 silk flower bushes of similar, yet varying color (red, white, and blue are cute for summer, for example)
  • wire cutters
  • hot glue gun or floral wire
  • ribbon (color-coordinated with flowers chosen), optional
  • hammer and nail or wreath hook
  1. Step 1

WORKSPACE: Lay out your materials on a clear working space. I find it easy to prop the grapevine wreath up so I can see it more clearly. If using a glue gun, insert glue stick and plug in gun to allow it to heat up.

  2. Step 2

CUT FLOWERS: With your wire cutters, cut each flower stem as close to the bottom of the bush as you can. You can resize them as you see fit later.

  3. Step 3

AUDITION: Tuck flower stems into various sections of the wreath according to your placement preference; however, it looks nicest if all flowers are facing the same direction i.e. all stems pointing to the left or right, but not both ways. If you feel stems need to be shortened, do so with your wire cutters now.

  4. Step 4

SECURE: If using a glue gun, take out each flower you've auditioned, and place a dollop of glue on the bottom of the stem and replace in the wreath. If using floral wire, wind it around your auditioned flowers in inconspicuous areas and cut with wire cutters. Tie like you would a twist-tie on the back of your wreath.

  5. Step 5

FINISHING TOUCH: You can do many things with ribbon. Cut a long strand, and do the following; wrap it around your wreath to cover your floral wire OR tie it in a bow and attach it anywhere on your wreath using your glue gun or floral wire. You can even omit the flowers and just wind the ribbon around the wreath by itself...Very Pretty!

  6. Step 6

HANG IT UP: Hammer a long nail about half a centimeter into the wall where your wreath will be placed. If placing it on your front door (or any door), hang a wreath hook (purchased in any craft store) over the door, and hang your wreath.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very careful with hot glue and wire cutters. If younger than twelve, have an adult help you.
