How to Clean a Locker

There's a million things to remember as you navigate your way through the school day. You have a Bio quiz this afternoon, your two page paper on the importance of recycling was due yesterday and you still haven't started it, and you know your Algebra book is in your locker somewhere but you just can't find it . It might help you to get back on top of your academic game if you were better organized. It all starts with a clean locker and if that is a foreign concept, you'd better brush up on your home economic skills!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Plan to skip the bus ride home and stay at school to wait for the halls to empty. You don't need an audience while you clean your locker, and besides--who knows what's in there! Someone could get hurt.
Step2
Dig into the mess once the traffic clears the halls. The best way to go about cleaning your locker is to completely empty it of everything inside. Everything means every tattered book, every crumpled candy bar wrapper and every crinkled piece of paper inside.
Step3
Throw away what deserves to be thrown away as soon as you get your hands on it. This procedure will be much easier if you can scoot a trash can right over to your locker. Ask a teacher in a nearby room if he would mind you borrowing the trash can from his room for a little while. He will probably be pretty excited to hear that you are going to clean out the eye sore of the hallway.
Step4
Sort the things that you don't throw away into piles on the floor around your locker. Make one pile for things that you need to take home. Another pile for books that you should return to the library. A third pile can be devoted to the things you plan to leave in your locker. Keep going until every single item from your locker has been designated to a pile.
Step5
Subdivide the pile of things to leave in your locker. Make a pile for text books and another pile for notebooks, and continue in this fashion until everything has been grouped.
Step6
Check to see if the locker needs to be cleaned with multipurpose cleaner or possibly a disinfectant. If there is any mold in the locker, you will need to use an appropriate cleaner to eliminate this very unhealthy growth. Locate a member of your school's maintenance team who will be able to take care of this for you.
Step7
Return your belongings to the locker in an organized way. No more cramming things in and forcing the door shut. Try grouping all of your books and notebooks according to your schedule. If you have Sociology the first hour of the day, put your Sociology books in first followed by whatever you have for second hour and then third and so on until all of your books and notebooks are placed inside. If you take a little time to organize your books and notebooks, you will be able to find what you need when you need it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider doing a quick, once a week cleaning of your locker to avoid a major clean out in the future.
