  • One Host
  • One Chair, Couch or Table

Playing Sit, Stand, Lean in Improv

  1. Step 1

The host solicits a non-geographic location and an unrelated object from the audience.

  2. Step 2

The three players quietly create a skeleton of a scene (beginning, middle and end) while the host explains the game to the audience.

  3. Step 3

The scene begins with one player sitting, one player standing and one player leaning.

  4. Step 4

Throughout the scene, each player should change their positions. If a player notices that they are holding the same position as another player, they must change their position to the position that is not being used.

  5. Step 5

Each player must hold each position at least once throughout the scene.

  6. Step 6

After all players have held each position at least once, one of the players must bring the scene to a close.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pay attention to the other players on stage
  • Move slow enough so that everyone has a different position
  • Do not move too quickly
  • Do not face your back to the audience
