Things You'll Need:
- Powdered rooting hormone
- Fresh cuttings
- Plant pots
- Potting medium
-
Step 1
Take fresh cutting from your favorite plants. Woody stems may be damaged by cutting. Use new growth that is more tender and easier to root.
-
Step 2
Pour a small amount of the rooting compound into a small container. A medicine bottle works well. It is important not to contaminate the rooting powder. Always pour the amount you will need in another container before dipping.
-
Step 3
Insert the cutting stem into the rooting hormone to 1 inch deep. Be sure the stem is evenly covered with rooting hormone. This is the area that will produce new roots.
-
Step 4
Plant the cutting in moist potting mix and set in a sunny window that receives filtered light.
-
Step 5
Keep soil evenly moist and watch for new leaf growth. This is an indication that your new plants have taken root.
-
Step 6
Move plants to desired location and care for as usual.
