Step 1
Pizza is probably the favorite food of the western world. It is a thirty billion dollar a year business and seems to be growing all the time. Pizza has three main parts to its construction and all three are important if your going to serve a fantastic pizza to your guests or family. The three parts of a pizza are; crust, toppings, and sauce. In this article we will cover what it takes to make a really good pizza sauce. If you have never had homemade pizza then you are in for a real treat as pizza is a fun food to cook. This is a basic pizza sauce that you can customize any way you like so feel free to experiment.
Making a really good pizza sauce at home is a simple and easy task. It will be very easy for you to create your own family tradition from the basic example listed below. -
Step 2
Ingredients:
4 cans of salt free tomato sauce. Try and get a no name brand as they are the same quality as any brand name will be. Never pay for a name when you can be paying for more food when making a really good pizza sauce. Buy salt free because many of the other ingredients in pizza have more than enough salt in them. Store bought ingredients or pizzas contain entirely too much salt to be healthy. When making a recipe with a lot of ingredients you have to consider the over all salt content of the recipe rather than the salt content of each individual ingredient. If you plan to use this sauce as a dipping sauce you may want to add a tiny amount of salt to make up for the loss that would have been covered from other ingredients in the pizza. This is one way you can cut the salt consumption in your household and your family will never notice the difference.
3 tablespoons of olive oil.
3 large cloves or garlic. ( diced )
1 tablespoon of oregano, basil, onion powder, and hot pepper flakes. -
Step 3
Directions:
Open all of the tomato sauce and pour into a cooking pot. Toss in your spices, olive oil, and garlic. Stir your really good pizza sauce thoroughly. Cook on medium heat stirring occasionally until some of the moisture has evaporated from the sauce and your really good pizza sauce has noticeably thickened.
Allow your really good pizza sauce to cool to room temperature before using or storing in the fridge. It will keep well for 3-4 days and will have a better flavor if allowed to sit overnight and give the ingredients in the sauce time to meld with one another. Really good pizza sauce will add wonderful flavor to your homemade pizza and paired with toasted bread sticks makes a quick and tasty snack.
