How to Treat Poison Ivy with Baking Soda

Poison Ivy is one of the most common skin irritations people come into contact with during the warmer months. Whether you've only got a couple of blisters, or you are covered with splotches of the stuff, there is an easy to make and use home remedy to help soothe your itching, and it is right at your fingertips. This article will tell you how to make a simple mixture to use to treat poison ivy itching.

Things You'll Need

• baking soda, water, small bowl or container

Instructions

Making the paste and applying

1. Scoop 3 teaspoons of baking soda into a small bowl. Make sure the bowl is clean and dry.

2. Add 1 teaspoon of warm water to the baking soda, and mix into a paste. If the paste is too thin, add a little more baking soda. Reverse the ratio if it is too thick. Just make sure it is thick enought to cling well to your skin without running.

3. Apply the paste to the areas afflicted with the poison ivy, and allow to dry. Repeat this process if you still find the itching has not lessened enough.
