Corn on the cob is the perfect accompaniment to a grilled or barbecued meal. It cooks right alongside meat and can be left natural or flavored to fit the theme of the meal. Grilling adds a natural smoky flavor to the corn and almost any seasoning blend can be used to add additional flavor. Serve the corn on the cob or cut it off after grilling for use in salads and side dishes. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Grill
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • Grill brush
  • Large bowl
  • Water
  • Seasoning blend, as desired

Instructions

      Preheat the grill to medium heat and melt the butter.

      Grasp the husks and peel them back, several layers at a time, but leave them attached. Pull the silk off and brush with a vegetable brush under running water to remove any remaining silk.

      Soak the corn, with husks attached, in a large bowl of cold water for half an hour. Remove the corn and pat the corn dry. A little moisture in the husks is good, but the corn itself needs to be dried so the butter will stick.

      Brush the corn with a thin layer of butter and sprinkle with the desired seasoning. Replace the husks, covering the corn.

      Place the corn on the hot grill. Close the lid and grill the corn for approximately 15 minutes, turning occasionally.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your corn is already husked, brush it with butter and seasonings and wrap in aluminum foil before placing it on the grill.

  • Use blends such as Cajun seasoning salt, fresh or dried thyme, Italian seasoning mix, grill seasoning mix or try your own favorites.

  • Corn is hot; handle with care.
