Things You'll Need:
- Lawn Mower
- Lawn Trimmer
- Sprinkler or Sprinkler System
- Any Lawn and weed preventer fertilizer
- Any fertilizer spreader
- Grass Seed

Step 1
Fertilize your lawn with any standard weed and feed. I have tried Scotts, Ace Hardware brand, Wal Mart brand and many others and haven't seen much of a difference. You can use any type of spreader. I fertilize in March, May and August and use Winterize fertilizer once the weather is too cold for the grass to grow.

Step 2
Seed your lawn. Most lawns I've seen that people are displeased with have very thinned out grass. Use any fertilizer spreader to spread the seed. Make sure to find the spreader adjustment to make sure it is not on too high or low of a setting. If you have any bare spots in the lawn make sure to add extra grass seed. This will thicken the grass and help push out thatch (dead grass in between the healthy grass) and weeds.

Step 3
Trim your lawn. For best results trim around your lawn it will make it look a whole lot better. Trim before you mow so the grass you trim can be picked up by the mower.
-
Step 4
Mow your lawn. Make sure the grass is not too wet from rain or sprinklers it should be pretty dry. Don't ever cut more than 1/3 of the grass height. You can mulch if you have a good mower or your grass isn't very long. Otherwise bagging looks much better. Also if you have quite a few weeds it can help to bag.

Step 5
Water your lawn. I advise people to water every other day for about 7-15 minutes a cycle with a automatic sprinkler system. Otherwise I would water for about 30 minutes at each area of the lawn every three days. Obviously warmer months require more watering.
