Step 1
Use the actual games. The Nintendo Wii offers downloads for many gaming systems like Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64, but to play GameCube games, you have to actually own the game discs themselves.
-
Step 2
Purchase the discs at video game retailers like Game Stop, EB Games and other stores that exclusively deal with GameCube games (see Resources below). The best part about buying them is that they will be a lot cheaper because the system is old. You can find a $50 game for less than 10 bucks.
-
Step 3
Ditch the remote. You cannot play the GameCube with the Wii remote. The reason for this is because the GameCube controller has several buttons that do not fit on the Wii remote.
-
Step 4
Open up the top of your Nintendo Wii to find slots for up to four GameCube controllers. This is very convenient for past GameCube owners that do not need new equipment.
-
Step 5
Try finding a wireless GameCube controller because the setup of the Wii can make it frustrating to play with a wired controller. A wireless controller may eat up a lot of batteries, but it will make it a lot easier to play with and enjoy the GameCube games.
-
Step 6
Insert the GameCube game disc the same way that you would insert a Wii game. The game will load up in the top left channel of the main Wii menu. Use your Wii remote to click on that game’s icon.
