Summer is almost here, and now is the time to remove all of that unwanted hair that has been hiding under your winter wardrobe. There are countless ways to remove body hair, and all of them have their pros and cons. Unfortunately, the more painful the removal process is, the more effective. For instance, shaving may last a day or two, but aside from a few nicks, there is usually no pain involved. Waxing, on the other hand, can last for weeks. But it can be quite an uncomfortable process. Below are some steps to remove body hair.

  • Electric razor
  • Shaving cream
  • Hot wax/cold wax
  • Muslin strips
  • Depilitory cream
  • Washcloth
  • Water
  • Hair removal pads
  • Tweezers
  • Electrolysis professional

  • Hair removal medication
  1. Step 1

    Shave. Using either an electric razor, or a blade, body hair can be easily removed. Apply shaving cream to the area, and use strokes that go against the way the hair naturally grows. Using an electric razor requires circular motions.

  2. Step 2

    Wax. Choose a hot or cold wax removal system. Apply to hair growth, and remove with muslin strips. Holding strips taut, quickly pull with an upward motion to remove hair. Some strips come "pre-waxed", making this process a bit easier.

  3. Step 3

    Use depilatories. Smooth the depilatory cream onto area where hair is to be removed. Wash hands immediately and allow the cream an average of ten to twenty minutes to remove hair. After allotted time, wipe off area with a clean, wet washcloth. Hair will come off with the cream.

  4. Step 4

    Use hair removal pads. Hold the sandpaper like pad, and using a circular motion, remove the unwanted body hair.

  5. Step 5

    Try tweezing. Remove unwanted individual hairs with tweezers. Hold the tweezers at an angle and pluck the hairs from the skin, one by one.

  6. Step 6

    Do laser removal. Allow a professional who is well trained remove unwanted body hair. This process is costly, but permanent.

  7. Step 7

    Try electrolysis. This is another process that needs to be done by a trained professional. This exceedingly long procedure is painful and costly, but it is permanent.

  8. Step 8

    take medications to remove unwanted hair. The process usually works for the amount of time that the drug is taken the drug, only to return after use is discontinued.

Tips & Warnings
  • When tweezing eyebrows, the use of a non-permanent marker to outline your desired removal area, can help to reduce any errors.
  • Be careful shaving with a regular razor. Especially, if you are taking any type of blood thinners. The cut from a razor can bleed heavily.
  • If you choose to wax, be aware of the temperature of your product. Wax that is too hot can cause severe burns.
  • Depilitories can be very effective, but read the manufacturer's directions carefully. Certain brands may have a shorter wait time. Leaving the cream on longer than recommended may cause burning to the skin.
